Tour part of national effort to increase support of U.S. manufacturing industry

As part of a national effort to increase Congressional awareness of the importance of manufacturing to the U.S. economy, Bluff Manufacturing, Inc., (http://www.bluffmanufacturing.com), hosted a tour of its production facility September 22 for John Wood, North Texas Regional Director for the Office of Senator John Cornyn.

The plant tour, lead by Bluff Manufacturing President Clark Smith, was organized in conjunction with the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) as part of its strategy to make legislators more aware of both the benefits manufacturers bring to communities and the unprecedented challenges now facing America's manufacturing sector - including loss of jobs and global competition.

As a leading provider of material handling and warehouse safety equipment to companies throughout the U.S, Mexico, Canada and Caribbean, Bluff Manufacturing designs, builds and ships all of its yard ramps, dock boards, dock levelers, wheel risers and Crash Guard industrial safety products from its Fort Worth production facility. In addition, its recent acquisition of B&L Structures, Inc., a national manufacturer of mezzanine structures, conveyor support, landings, stairways and caged ladders, expanded the company's product line.

"This was an ideal opportunity to demonstrate 'Made in America' and our commitment to ingenuity and quality craftsmanship," explained Smith, noting Wood observed the production process and met several employees during the tour. "We also took the opportunity to discuss the importance of Bluff's two year apprenticeship/training program and how our unique compensation model for plant employees would serve the U.S. manufacturing industry well in their collective efforts to maintain the production of American goods here in the United States."

As a member of NAM, Bluff Manufacturing will continue to lobby for manufacturing facilities and jobs staying in the U.S. by supporting regulations that are not restrictive and that promote independence of manufacturers.
