TDCI, Inc. (TDCI), the leading provider of configurator-based software solutions, announced today that Porvene Doors Inc., a California-based manufacturer of industrial and commercial doors, is expanding their use of BuyDesign Configurator to provide the company’s dealer network with self-service online quoting and ordering capabilities. Porvene Doors has used TDCI’s BuyDesign Configurator integrated with the company’s Microsoft Dynamics GP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system since early 2009. The new dealer-facing capabilities will be provided by BuyDesign Channel Sales. In addition, Porvene Doors will upgrade to the latest release of BuyDesign – BuyDesign 7.
A component of TDCI’s BuyDesign product configurator and guided selling solution, BuyDesign Channel Sales is an Internet-based software application that guides sales people through product configuration and pricing, quote generation, and order placement. The embedded BuyDesign Configurator makes it easy for sales people to specify customizable products by selecting from available features, options and dimensions. It verifies that the combination of features is valid and manufacturable, calculates pricing, and generates configuration-specific manufacturing information such as bills of material and routings for the ordered product. In so doing, it helps companies increase sales by becoming ‘easy to do business with’ while at the same time helping them reduce order processing time, cost, and errors.
Porvene Doors' systems can be complex with a number of different options in terms of curtain materials, electric motors and sensors, vents, and install kits. Dimensions are also specified to fit a particular opening. Using BuyDesign Channel Sales, Porvene Doors will make it possible for dealers to interactively specify, quote, and order door systems without the need to call or fax order information. This will significantly speed the sales process while helping ensure accurate orders. Orders entered through BuyDesign will be passed electronically to Porvene Doors' Microsoft Dynamics GP system for production scheduling and execution.
