Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) October 8, 2010
TheCASHFLOW, an online portal dedicated to inspiring, educating and funding urban entrepreneurs hosted a pitch competition Sunday October 3rd at Justins Restaurant in Atlanta GA. Enterprising ideas were chosen from a pool of submissions uploaded by aspiring participants, on TheCASHFLOW website, making their case for why they should be selected to receive $10,000.00 in startup funding. The experience was promoted by Beehivefm.com, an online urban alternative radio station that publicized the event on their website and during the show Live from Plutopia which airs weekdays from 2pm – 6pm.
Entrepreneurs were given 60 seconds to explain in front of an audience and a judging panel that included celebrity music producer Bryan Michael Cox, TheCASHFLOW co-founder Lucas Riggins and Live from Plutopia host Taiye Samuels, why their business idea deserved to be funded. In addition, guests were treated to a full brunch and musical selections spun by DJ E-Class.
The surprise of the afternoon was the decision to fund three startup businesses a total of $30,000.00, plus mentorship by TheCASHFLOW co-founders Magnus Greaves and Dan Carriere. Each recipient is funded by TheCASHFLOW's non-profit foundation, 100 Urban Entrepreneurs. “We recognized that based on the great number of submissions, small businesses and entrepreneurs that Atlanta is going to be a great hub for TheCASHFLOW movement,” says Greaves, “and because there were so many that were deserving, it would be a wonderful gesture to fund three.”
The companies selected were According 2 Hip Hop, a hip hop trivia game application based on the lyrics of rap music, Enrichment Prep an educational services company that delivers test preparation programs and private tutoring and Don-B Motorcycle Apparel, a company that defensively designs clothing and accessories for bikers who ride at night.
TheCASHFLOW is scheduled to visit 10 U.S. cities including Houston, New Orleans, Tallahassee and Washington DC before the end of 2010.
