Hadley Pottery, LLC, is complementing traditional retail sales of its collectible pottery with new online ordering capabilities at http://www.hadleypottery.com.

Hadley Pottery, maker of fine, hand-crafted stoneware for seventy years, is now offering customers the opportunity to make purchases online at http://www.hadleypottery.com. The new e-commerce capability was added in response to customers who wanted to expand their M. A. Hadley Pottery collections even if they didn’t have a traditional retailer in their area. Previously, Hadley Pottery was only available through a network of select retailers.

According to Elaine Burkhardt, Director of Sales and Marketing for Hadley Pottery, the typical Hadley collector is an educated woman in her forties or over who works outside the home. Hadley Pottery wanted to make it more convenient for collectors to add to their collections, even if their schedules prevent them from visiting the retail locations where they bought their first pieces. In addition, “by making our collection available online, we can expand the geographic diversity of our customer base and reach collectors and potential collectors across the country,” Burkhardt says.

Hadley Pottery believes that by offering its collection online, it will ultimately increase sales at its top retailers’ stores. “In addition to featuring close to 100 of our top retailers on the Hadley web site, the company will also build the traditional retail business by including information about local Hadley retailers with online orders as they ship,” Burkhardt says. “There is still no substitute for shopping Hadley Pottery in a charming boutique like those that carry our products. Our customers love to handle the pieces and speak personally with the retailer about how to combine patterns and pieces into a collection, and that will always be a significant part of the Hadley experience.”

About Hadley Pottery

Inspired by the designs of renowned artist Mary Alice Hadley, Hadley Pottery is an American classic, cherished by everyday users, enthusiasts, and collectors across the United States and around the world. Often described as simple, whimsical, and warm, the hand-painted Hadley designs are remarkable in their ability to capture the essence and emotion of a time, a place, or a memory.

Hadley stoneware is extremely durable, and is often used by collectors as their every day china. Made from clay native to Kentucky and Indiana, the stoneware is hand-painted, glazed, and then kiln-fired at 2100 degrees Fahrenheit, making it highly resistant to chipping and scratching. It is lead-free and oven, microwave, and dishwasher-safe. Each hand-crafted piece is signed by an artist trained by a protégé of Mary Alice Hadley. The hand painted signature is the mark of genuine Hadley stoneware.

Since Hadley Pottery’s beginning in 1940, its founder’s unique vision and style have been widely imitated. But the original spirit and creative energy of Mary Alice Hadley is still alive in the historic pottery on Story Avenue in Louisville.

In September 2009, Enterprise Growth Partners, LLC completed the purchase of the assets of Hadley Pottery Company, Inc., through its subsidiary Hadley Pottery LLC. This transaction ensures that the iconic Louisville, Kentucky company will have the resources, management and financial capabilities to grow and succeed in the future and preserve the legacy of Mary Alice Hadley.
