On September 30th 2010 the US Internal Revenue Service offered families primarily in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Southeast Texas the ability to get some tax deductions, if their home contains toxic Chinese drywall. The Chinese Drywall Complaint Center is saying, "the IRS offer to allow for tax deductions---for victims of toxic Chinese drywall, is just one more example of federal incompetence, and it was an insult to every homeowner living in a Made in China toxic drywall hell. These people need mortgage help-not a tax deduction." They say, "toxic Chinese drywall in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Southeast Texas is corrosive enough to eat through copper----what is it doing to the health of those who live in these homes? Why has President Obama failed to mention toxic Chinese drywall one time since taking office?" The group is also saying, "if you live in a 2005-2006 new, or remodeled home in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and the Houston, or Austin metro areas of Texas, and you have had numerous AC coil failures, please check your attic to see if Knauf Tianjin is written on the back of the drywall. Knauf may be the only toxic Chinese drywall maker to settle with completely innocent US homeowners." As far as updates, the group is saying, "we need the Feds to explain what blank drywall is? We are finding it all over the US Southeast, there is no manufacturer ID's, no fire rating codes, we think its toxic-did this garbage come from China too?"
