Wilmington, DE (PRWEB) October 7, 2010
Horizon Services, Inc., the region’s largest residential plumbing, heating and air conditioning company is going PINK for the month of October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month… literally.
Starting today, on Tuesday and Thursday throughout October, hundreds of Horizons Services technicians and sales associates will be donning pink shirts to remind customers that education and early detection are critical to saving lives.
Mark Aitken, co-owner of Horizon Services, Inc., lost his grandmother to breast cancer nearly 40 years ago. “Back when my grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer, there were very few treatment options and almost no focus on prevention and early intervention,” he said. “Today, thankfully times are different and women are living longer, healthier lives -- but the key is awareness.”
“We at Horizon Services are lucky enough to see literally thousands of customers each month in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Maryland,” said Aitken. “So, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we decided to use that expansive outreach to do some good.”
In addition to the pink shirts, Horizon technicians will attach reminders to invoices regarding Breast Cancer Awareness Month, encouraging women to get mammograms.
Horizon Services, Inc, is also the primary sponsor of the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk on Sunday, October 10 in Wilmington. In addition, the company supports the Biden Breast Health Initiatives Outreach efforts in Delaware.
