Karen S. Gammage uses her storytelling prowess and charms bookshelves as she imparts to young readers valuable lessons with NUTTY AND BUDDY, her picture book released through Xlibris.

In a tall elm tree on a friendly brick-laid street live two baby squirrels. One day, as their mother is away from the nest to gather food, they suddenly feel an unusual shudder in the tree. Being so young, they try to figure out what the loud noises and the movements are all about, until they find themselves falling from the tree. As it appears, the tree they are living in which their nest used to rest has to be cut because its roots have all of the sidewalks torn up and they are beginning to grow under the foundation of the house.

Fortunately for the baby squirrels, they are handed to a loving young woman, Gwyn. She warmly welcomes the vulnerable creatures, making sure she is able to feed them and tend to their needs until they have fully recovered. But will they ever be well enough to go back to the wilds where they truly belong?

Lush with vibrant illustrations that burst in every page, NUTTY AND BUDDY is a heartwarming tale delightfully presented for children to learn the values of friendship and compassion. Filled with fun lessons, it can be a charming tool for parents and children to bond.

About the Author
Karen Gammage has done some writing on and off for her own pleasure, and assisted a writer friend in writing stories. Here, she has chosen to write a children’s book about something she enjoys, animals and nature. Now retired from a career as a Registered Nurse, she is currently, first and foremost, an artist, savoring arts and crafts of all types. She has always felt that God gave the beauty in nature and wildlife to enrich lives. If by absorbing the beauty, symmetry, and delicacy of nature in its resplendent finery and presenting it in a pleasant creation brings her pleasure, then she is blessed; and if it brings someone else pleasure as well, then she is doubly blessed with God’s gifts.
