Beach Republic recently announced the appointment of their new General Manager Alex Chakrabarti.
A British National, Alex graduated from Newcastle University (United Kingdom) and has worked extensively throughout Europe, Africa and South East Asia. With over 15 years experience in the hotel industry, Alex’s wealth of operational experience as well as strong leadership skills are sure to strengthen the current force of the hotel’s management team.
In 2003 a re-location to Thailand at Sabana Resort, Phuket as an Operations Manager followed by his appointment in 2005, for the opening of the Mercure Hotel in Pattaya in the capacity of Operations Manager for the opening of the 245 room hotel.
In September 2006, he was appointed Operations Director of King Power Entertainment. The opening of 10 restaurants in Bangkok’s new International Suvarnabhumi Airport was combined with the launch of a 600 cover restaurant located at the King Power Duty Free Complex.
Alex was then appointed Operations Director and Executive Assistant Manager of the newly opened and highly successful Pullman Bangkok King Power Hotel and prior to his appointment with Beach Republic, Alex was the General Manager of the prestigious and award winning Hotel G Beijing.
Upon his return to Thailand, Alex was quoted recently: ‘I am excited at the prospect of taking Beach Republic to the next level. As this is my first assignment in Koh Samui, I look forward to embracing the wonderful culture and experiencing the lifestyle here on the Island’ and transforming Beach Republic into a global brand.
