Company unveils specialized service offerings at the EDUCAUSE Annual Conference

“Having the opportunity to run a free, fully deployed pilot program of an LMS can mean the difference between success and failure,” said Jim Hilby, chief information officer (CIO) of Alverno College.

ilusent, a new full-service hosting, implementation, training and support provider for successful open source deployments, launched today at the EDUCAUSE Annual Conference in Anaheim, CA. ilusent is a new company under the Ucompass.com umbrella, an organization with strong roots in the education sector and the creator of Educator, a proprietary learning management system (LMS) used by over a million students in the K-20 market.

ilusent was founded to address the growing need for guidance, support, and experienced leadership within K-12 and higher education organizations looking to migrate from proprietary applications to open source solutions like Moodle and Mahara.

“We’re more than just a secure and reliable hosting partner," said Edward Mansouri, chief executive officer at ilusent. “We partner with our clients to really understand their environment, users, and needs to craft a solution that delivers results. Many organizations see the appeal of open source technologies, like Moodle, but are reluctant to take on these projects due to limited resources and limited support. We’re here to guide organizations through the creation, customization, training and support phases of their open source project.”

ilusent offers clients a flexible engagement model based on a joint needs assessment. All of the company’s services are offered both as an end-to-end package and “a la carte”.

ilusent is offering new clients the opportunity to test-run an open source learning management system for a full semester for free. Under this promotion, ilusent will set-up and configure a custom LMS environment and host it free of charge for a full semester to enable faculty, staff, administrators and students to become familiar with the technology and gain hands on experience.

“Having the opportunity to run a free, fully deployed pilot program of an LMS can mean the difference between success and failure,” said Jim Hilby, chief information officer (CIO) of Alverno College. “This allows us to try out the technology, gauge user response, and make an educated choice about the best solution for our organization. With the limited resources and budget that most organizations are working within, this type of supported pilot and strong partner is essential to guide us through the implementation and set-up.”

The EDUCAUSE Annual Conference is taking place October 12-15, 2010 at the Anaheim Convention Center. For more information about the conference, visit http://www.educause.edu/E2010. Visit ilusent at booth 1446 or online at http://www.ilusent.com/.
