Although this is a very attractive offer from EDF Energy, you could potentially save even more if you shop around.

EDF Energy has become the cheapest online deal after slashing £100 off bills for new customers. But Energychoices.co.uk warns that it’s still best to shop around.
Energychoices is still urging people to shop around and compare all the different online energy deals because they could save even more than this if they do, although EDF Energy has come up with an eye-catching promotion,
Chris Eagle, commercial manager at Energychoices.co.uk, said: “Although this is a very attractive offer from EDF Energy, you must be aware that you could potentially save even more if you shop around.
“Depending on your individual circumstances you could shave almost £300* off your annual energy bills by switching.”
People who sign up to EDF Energy’s Online S@ver Version 7 before the end of November will be given a £100 bonus. However, the deal is for dual fuel customers who pay by direct debit only.
As it stands at the moment an average household on this tariff pays an annual dual fuel bill of £967, according to EDF Energy.
If you take into account the £100 welcome bonus, it will now only cost them £867 - making this the cheapest online deal available.
Scottish Power’s Online Energy Saver 11 is the next cheapest energy tariff, costing the average household £872, but this is without any discount.
Eagle added: “Also be aware that EDF Energy’s Online S@ver Version 7 tariff is a variable tariff and therefore the rates may change at any time.
“Furthermore, it is likely that other providers are soon going to follow EDF Energy’s lead and offer their own discounts.
“That’s why it is so important to always keep your eye on what energy prices are doing. Continuously compare prices and only switch when you find a cheaper and more suitable tariff for you.”
Customers saved an average of £280.34 when they switched energy deals through Energychoices.co.uk in September 2010
