Local Mom Wins Prestigious Author Award

The League of Utah Writers announced winners of the “Golden Quill of Excellence” Award in the Children’s and Young Adult Book Category. Utah Young Adult Author, Patricia Bossano won first prize for her book, Faery Sight, (available through Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble and http://www.iuniverse.com).

The League of Utah Writers Publications Chair and Author, Jill Vanderwood, presented the highest honor in this category to Patricia Bossano during the 2010 League of Utah Writers Round Up Conference, on September 17th.

“This is a tremendous award and I’m honored to be this year’s recipient. My goal is to inspire today’s youth to read avidly and help them understand what a gift books are – they’re better than movies.” said Bossano.

Faery Sight is a young adult fantasy novel set in the 1800s. It chronicles the childhood of the human Celeste within the Realm of Faery. She discovers the shocking events leading up to her birth and from there we follow her quest for justice and her triumphant return to the human world when she comes of age.

Patricia Bossano lives in Northern Utah with her family and is currently finishing Cradle Gift, her follow up novel to Faery Sight.

The annual “Golden Quill of Excellence” awards are presented by The League of Utah Writers, a non-profit organization dedicated to offering friendship, education, and encouragement to the writers of Utah. The League of Utah Writers has almost 400 members in 14 chapters located across the state.
