Steven Savage, an IT professional who blogs and speaks on careers, has released his second book "Progeek Rising: The Best of Fan To Pro, Volume 1." Published via Lulu.com, it will soon be available from a variety of sources.
Mr. Savage is a life-long enthusiast for technology, science fiction, and media, always directing his interests into forming a fulfilling career. He refers to himself as a "Geek 2.0" - a person who takes his obsessions and turns them into professions. In order to share his experiences with others, he and a friend founded the blog Fan To Pro (http://www.fantopro.com/) to reach out and support the careers of people like themselves - computer gamers, programmers, science-fiction fans, anime enthusiasts, and more. His first book, "Fan To Pro: Unlocking Career Insights With Your Hobbies" was released in March 2010.
"In every group there's one person people go to for job advice. In my group, that's always me. After starting the blog, I realized there were many ways I could do that for even more people," says Mr. Savage.
"Progeek Rising" takes the best of Steve's first year of writing for the blog, along with commentary looking back - and forward- and what he's written. From the economics of geeks to career brainstorming, Steve's columns, exercises, and opinions are compiled in one spot to help out professional geeks
Mr. Savage credits Lulu.com with making the publication fast, efficient, and professional. "Lulu.com allowed me to create and distribute this book with ease," he says, "and it's definitely the first book of many to come."
With "Progeek Rising" Mr. Savage continues to share what he's learned with his fellow and future members of "Geek 2.0".
"There's more books to come," Mr. Savage says.
