John Schnoebelen, a Missouri entrepreneur, has just released 3initials (http://www.3initials.com) a brand new monogram application for Apple’s iPhone.
The recent and rapid development of “smartphones” over the past couple of years has drawn much attention to so-called “apps,” or programs that can be downloaded to perform specific functions on these highly technological phones. The iPhone is the most iconic of the smartphones, and the app market has skyrocketed in recent times.
Taking his cue from a long history of entrepreneurship, Schnoebelen saw the opportunity for a unique niche in the app market: combining the recent revival of “preppy” fashions with the booming technological innovations behind the iPhone.
Schnoebelen’s application is an inspired blend of both the preppy and the digital. It allows users to easily personalize their iPhone wallpapers by using his or her initials to create a unique monogram.
Schnoebelen credits the birth of this idea to his family, who love personal monograms: “The idea was sparked by my wife and daughter, and other family friends who were in love with monogrammed items,” he says. “I noticed the resurgence of the monogram and thought it might make a good app for the iPhone.”
It turns out that Schnoebelen’s hunch was not ill founded. News sources from the San Francisco Gate to the New York Times have commented on the recent renaissance of the preppy trend; writers Lisa Birnbach and Chip Kidd have just released True Prep, a book about the history of the prep look and what it means to be “prep” in 2010.
In this growing arena of interest, Schnoebelen’s 3initial app has met with remarkable commercial success in its fledgling days. Despite the application’s so far short tenure on the iTunes App store, it has a five star rating and has gathered rave reviews. Schnoebelen has also created a Facebook page for his creation, which has attracted a growing number of fans. The success of the app has spanned 12 countries.
John Schnoebelen is an innovative business development professional that has over twenty years of experience in creating new products. He is a lifelong resident of Missouri.
