GMO GlobalSign Inc, one of the leading providers of Digital Certificates worldwide, and Armorize, a leader in web application security, today announced a partnership to deliver malware scanning services to GlobalSign SSL Certificate customers. The partnership will allow all GlobalSign OrganizationSSL, ExtendedSSL and Managed SSL customers to benefit from 30 days of free malware scanning through Armorize’s HackAlert service.

Hackers use and develop malicious software known as malware to compromise PCs and spread viruses, hijack computers or steal personal information by surreptitiously injecting malicious code into vulnerable websites, causing the infected websites to distribute malware to their website visitors.

The danger for visitors to infected websites is that the malware installed on their Personal Computers often includes Keylogging software, Trojans, Rootkits and/or other software that can record users’ activities or even grant attackers access to and control over the victim computer.

The rise in malware distribution through hacked websites has resulted in search engines like Google to begin blacklisting websites they deem to be infected and actively distributing Malware. Most website owners are unaware their websites are being used to distribute malware until Google publicly post a warning message embedded in their search results that the infected web site “may harm your computer”. This Google flagging drastically and almost instantaneously begins to drive down traffic to the site, immediately affecting its revenue generation potential. The reputation of the site and the company is often irreparably damaged as even after the malware is removed from the website the site will stay flagged by the search engines for a significant period of time and the cost to win back customer confidence will be high.

GlobalSign will be offering its SSL customers a 30 day trial of the market-leading cloud-based malware monitoring service from Armorize known as HackAlert. HackAlert makes use of a hybrid approach which combines behavioural profiling and signature extraction to reliably monitor for and detect the presence of any Drive-by downloads that exploit known/unknown vulnerabilities, rendered links which have been blacklisted, or malware attacks executed via online advertisements (malvertisements). As the service provides detection and alarms for “Zero Day” malware injected into websites and hidden through malvertisements, HackAlert has set a new standard in comprehensive website security, drive-by download defence, and protection against being flagged by Google as a malware-infected site.

"GlobalSign is a leading worldwide provider of SSL security and its partnership with Armorize to introduce the benefits of malware scanning to SSL customers reinforces the value proposition we offer through our industry leading technology," said Caleb Sima, CEO, Armorize.
