About the Author
The author was raised in Elmhurst, New York City. He is the oldest of four brothers and a sister and the son of loving, hard working parents. He attended St. Bartholomew grammar and Brooklyn Technical High schools before going to New York’s City College, uptown. He completed one semester and worked briefly in a few different jobs before enlisting in the U.S. Army. After training he served with the 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, N.C. and the Dominican Republic. He was honorably discharged in the summer of 1965 and returned to New York, where he soon met his future and present wife. Within three years they became the parents of a son and daughter. John spent his working life in New York’s concrete construction industry, a business where room is made for all types and toleration the name of the game providing one puts in the weight. In 2007, after forty-two years as a Local 46 Reinforcing Ironworker, he retired. He lives at the same address as he did on his wedding day and enjoys not only his leisure but a family life greatly enhanced by the arrival of six grandchildren.
