The Celtic Manor Resort has been voted the UK's Top Conference Hotel for the fourth year in a row.

As the five-star business and leisure resort in South Wales was still hosting the Ryder Cup described as the "greatest ever" over the weekend, Celtic Manor was awarded another big prize at a glittering awards ceremony in London.

The 400-bedroom resort with state-of-the-art convention centre was voted Top UK Conference Hotel in the Hot List for Conference & Incentive Travel magazine. It is the fourth year running that Celtic Manor has topped the reader poll in the industry leading publication and the fifth time in six years that it has picked up the coveted accolade.

Well-connected on the M4 motorway only two hours from London, the five-star resort beat off some strong competition from top hotels in and around the capital city to claim the award. The Hilton Metropole was second and the Sofitel at Terminal 5 was third.

Its two hotels - offering both a four and a five-star option - its three championship golf courses and its flexible event space, were identified as key factors in Celtic Manor's latest success.

Celtic Manor Convention Centre Manager Nancy Mollett said: "We are delighted to have won this prestigious award for the fourth year running.

"It is particularly satisfying that this accolade comes from the readers of Conference & Incentive Travel. In effect, this is a ringing endorsement from our clients, including the executives who plan and arrange conventions for some of the biggest blue chip companies.

"At a time when we have been in the world's spotlights as host venue for The 2010 Ryder Cup, it is reassuring to know that we have continued to exceed the expectations of our conference clients. Either side of The Ryder Cup, we have had our busiest ever months for conference bookings in September, October and November.

"This award reflects not only the excellence of the facilities but also the consistency of service we are able to offer. I am very proud of the entire team at Celtic Manor whose hard work has once again made this recognition possible."

The award was presented while Celtic Manor hosted a thrilling Ryder Cup, the third biggest event in world sport, which concluded with Colin Montgomerie's European team regaining the trophy from the United States of America by a single, heart-stopping point.

"This is the greatest Ryder Cup ever witnessed on either side of the Atlantic," said Phil Weaver, Chairman of the Professional Golfers Association, at the closing ceremony.

The Resort's Convention Centre - one of the largest hotel facilities of its kind in Europe - houses the Caernarfon Suite which can seat 1,500 delegates for a keynote address or 900 dining guests for a gala dinner. An additional 31 syndicate and meeting rooms with break-out areas can cater for every event from a small meeting around a table to large presentations for hundreds of people.

With 400 bedrooms in two hotels, three championship golf courses, five restaurants, two luxurious spas and health clubs as well as a host of other activities, The Celtic Manor Resort occupies a unique position in the marketplace.

The venue was also voted Wales' Leading Golf Resort and Wales' Leading Hotel at the 2010 World Travel Awards.

The Celtic Manor Resort has not rested on its laurels in recent times. More than £1 million has been spent on a new garden room extension to the Olive Tree Restaurant, a substantial expansion to the barbecue terrace on the rooftop garden and a children's adventure playground in 2010. Bedrooms have also been fitted with new flat-screen televisions.

As it continues to win awards for the excellence of its conference facilities, The Celtic Manor Resort has also enjoyed record years for golf and leisure revenue in 2009 and 2010 as it maximizes the profile of golf's Ryder Cup and increases its provision for families and other leisure visitors.
