NTI awarded six year national accreditation by Council on Occupational Education

Following a rigorous preparatory and evaluation process, Northeast Technical Institute (NTI) has been awarded full national accreditation by the Council on Occupational Education (COE), effective September 11, 2010. COE accredits post-secondary occupational institutions that offer certificate, diploma, or applied associate degree programs. These institutions include public technical colleges, private career colleges (both for-profit and not-for-profit), Army, Navy, and Department of Defense institutions, and Job Corps Centers.

To achieve accreditation, schools engage in a voluntary process of self-evaluation against nationally accepted best practices and standards. This evaluative process scrutinized the following areas: philosophy and foundations, board governance, administration, personnel, instructional program, physical environment, health and safety, guidance services, community, and student support. The accreditation process assists schools in achieving a standard of excellence and encourages a continuous process of assessment and ongoing institutional development.

Throughout its history, the COE has been recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a reliable authority on the quality of education offered by the institutions it has accredited. Its current scope of recognition is as a national institutional accrediting agency for the accreditation of non-degree-granting and applied associate degree-granting postsecondary occupational education institutions.

COE has approved NTI's Bangor and Scarborough campuses and its programs for a six year term. Program accreditations include Medical Assistant, Medical Administration (including Coding/Billing, Transcription), Phlebotomy/EKG Technician, Pharmacy Technician, Computer Repair Technician, Computer Network Specialist, HVAC/R Technician, CDL A & B Truck Driving and more.
