Weight loss surgery is and should be about reversing serious medical comorbid conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and sleep apnea in order to attain a happier, healthier, more functional New Life.
Knoxville, TN (Vocus) October 13, 2010
In support of bariatric surgery in Knoxville, TN, Dr. Stephen Boyce specializes in performing all approved weight loss procedures laparoscopically, including the Biliary Pancreatic Diversion with Duodenal Switch or BPD with DS, a procedure typically reserved for patients classified as super obese with BMI (body mass index) greater than 50. The BDP with DS procedure removes approximately ¾ of the stomach to both restrict food intake and reduce acid output. Since food bypasses the duodenum, all risk factors associated with the gastric bypass, including malabsorption, must be considered, though to a greater degree because of the overall changes to the intestinal structure. Dr. Boyce says the special benefit of the BPD with DS is that super obese patients may expect to lose 85% of their excess weight, allowing them to pursue a truly healthy weight and lifestyle. With additional support provided by weight loss diet plans and bariatric vitamins, Dr. Boyce says he is able to offer his patients an even greater chance at permanent weight loss.
Most surgeons and centers do not offer Biliary Pancreatic Diversion with Duodenal Switch because of its complexity; however, Dr. Boyce and his qualified staff are able to offer all bariatric procedures, including BPD with DS. Coupled with the fact that Dr. Boyce is an active Educator for Ethicon Endosurgery, where he trains other surgeons how to perform the BPD with DS, the New Life Center for Bariatric Surgery has been designated as a Center of Excellence by the American Society for Bariatric Surgery for their work in support of weight loss surgery in Knoxville.
Further supported by the New Life Bariatric Supplements vitamins, nutritional advice, and weight loss diet plans in Knoxville, Dr. Boyce says he has been able to help his patients lose weight effectively, while educating them on how to achieve their goals with simple, inexpensive tools through the bariatric center. “Weight loss surgery is and should be about reversing serious medical comorbid conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and sleep apnea in order to attain a happier, healthier, more functional New Life.”
