Nastel Technologies, a premier global provider of business transaction performance™ (BTP™) solutions for mission-critical applications spanning both the distributed and mainframe tiers, announced today that its AutoPilot® software solution has been selected by SKY® Mexico (Innova) to monitor its Direct-to-Home (DTH) satellite television service. The solution was sold by Nastel Reseller, BizPro. In addition, SKY’s Senior Integration Architect will be presenting a case study on the company’s IT environment at Gartner Symposium in Orlando at 2:30p.m. EDT on Tuesday, October 19th, 2010 in the ITxpo Theater.
SKY Mexico is the leading DTH provider in Latin America. The company required an agile, highly available infrastructure to support its growth plans in delivering triple and quadruple play offerings to its customers, helping them to stay ahead of competitors in quality of service and in reducing order fallout. Nastel Technologies’ reseller, BizPro, worked with SKY to architect a solution to provide the real-time visibility, high performance and predictive problem resolution SKY needed to achieve its business goals. Nastel AutoPilot was used to provide application performance management and business transaction monitoring for SKY’s application infrastructure and is currently running in its production environment. AutoPilot helped SKY save money by achieving a significant reduction in the mean-time-to-repair for software problems and a considerable decrease in customer attrition and order fallout.

Until recently, SKY had been using a monitoring solution that did not enable them to easily answer the customer question, “Where is my order?” as they lacked real-time transaction visibility. In addition, the company had an order fallout problem with many lost, stalled or inaccurate orders. SKY was not making its service level agreements (SLAs) and was suffering from a backlog at its helpdesk. These issues were hurting SKY’s income and image.
AutoPilot was selected after SKY ran several benchmarks comparing vendors. The solution is currently used in SKY’s production environment. During the deployment, SKY needed custom work in order to monitor its voice response system, and Siebel and SAP applications. BizPro leveraged the Nastel APIs to build these new Experts, thus demonstrating to SKY the extensibility of the AutoPilot solution. In addition, BizPro wrote custom polices using the Complex Event Processing engine that is part of AutoPilot in order to ensure SKY-specific IT governance was in place.
