On October 30th, La Botte Piccola will unveil two new wines in a unique format: wine in a keg. Wine in a keg? What is that? It’s wine packaged in stainless steel kegs and poured using a traditional tap system. La Botte Piccola Wine on Tap is ideal for restaurants, brew pubs or caterers – anyone who offers wine by the glass.
La Botte Piccola Wine on Tap delivers significant economic and environmental benefits for both customers and consumers. Not only does it deliver economies of scale, but the packaging itself has a significantly lower carbon footprint than that of wine in bottles:
- Keg containers are 100% re-usable, eliminating package waste - no garbage.
- Keg containers preserve almost every drop - less product waste.
- Keg packaging weighs less than glass bottles - less energy used.
One of La Botte Piccola’s founders, Diana Kaspic, explains the concept: “Our product is a return to our roots. For years, serving wine direct from the barrel was the traditional means of providing local wine to the community. We’re using newer technology and preserving that tradition so we can still deliver a high quality, local product. Our wine is 100% Washington grown and produced.”
La Botte Piccola already has a broad range of customers. Chad Tachell, owner of Carnation Golf Course, was one of La Botte Piccola’s first customers. He raves about the product: “We love it. Our customers love it. My accountant really loves it. It makes sense on so many levels - as the business owner I love the economics. As a consumer, I love the wine!”
Perhaps this is one of those situations where you can say “Yes, you can have more for less.”
La Botte Piccola currently offers two wines. La Botte Piccola White is 100% Chardonnay blended from two vineyard sources. La Botte Piccola Red is blend of two types of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon.
