From author Emma Lee comes The Importance of Being Green, an engaging picture book that shares an enlightening story about humanity’s relationship with the Divine. Lush with vibrant illustrations by Jennifer D. Ables, this book provides enjoyment to readers of all ages.
This story, the first in a series, is an allegory for the human condition – where we often choose separation from God even though we yearn for unity with the Divine. The Importance of Being Green introduces readers to the society of Frogans from the planet Ribbetton. On the surface, it may only appear to be a tale of self-acceptance around our outer appearance. But on a deeper level, the story illustrates the ambivalence we often feel towards the Divine, and yet at the same time how the Divine allows us free will and still loves us unconditionally.
In the story, the Frogans symbolize our limited sense of self and exemplify how we often choose to hide from our own True Spiritual Nature. The Frogans struggle against their inherent spiritual nature – represented by their innate ‘Greenness’. The central character of the story, Delmer the frog, or D for short, is an example of those higher beings that have voluntarily chosen to walk amongst us to show us the way back to Unity. In the story, D’s presence and spiritual example influence his fellow Frogans in positive ways. Can D help them overcome the true spiritual challenge of being Green and embrace The Importance of Being Green?
At the heart of this engaging story is the often complex journey to achieve higher consciousness. Written as an offering to all true seekers, The Importance of Being Green integrates humor and mystery while conveying a spiritual message. It is a tale of wonder and joy, a tale of acceptance and love, a tale of being Green.
The Importance of Being Green will be featured at this year’s New York Library Association Book Exhibit in Saratoga Springs, NY on November 2-5, 2010 and in California Library Association Book Exhibit in Sacramento, CA on November 12-15, 2010.
