“I have owned these paintings for 15 years... it is time for a change,” said Demi Moore.

Eli Wilner & Company, the frame sommelier, who has created over 10,000 masterpieces for the most prestigious art institutions in the world, has been chosen to frame two significant paintings from the collection of Hollywood actress and legend Demi Moore. The paintings have been consigned to Sotheby’s (NYSE: BID) auction of 19th Century European Art in New York on November 4, and will be exhibited at Sotheby’s New York galleries from October 29-November 3.
The first work of art, Frère et Soeur, painted by the great French Academic painter, William Bouguereau, shows a charming genre scene of an older sister tenderly holding her baby brother. This life-size composition, which has an estimate of $1-1.5 million, represents the subject matter that made William Bouguereau one of the most popular and successful artists of his generation.
Eli Wilner, who has a true gift for pairing a specific work of art with its proper frame, created a replica of a late 19th Century French frame to loan to Sotheby’s for this sale. This historical frame, with applied ornament and gilded, will be offered at $75,000, due to its meticulous detailing and historical accuracy.
The second painting consigned from Demi’s Moore’s private collection is by a leading 19th Century Belgian artist, Alfred Stevens. Painted in 1883, Mère et ses Enfants has an estimate of $150-200,000.
For this work of art, Eli Wilner & Company also created a replica of a late 19th Century French frame, with applied ornament and gilding, and will be offered at $55,000.
“I have owned these paintings, both the Bouguereau and Stevens, for 15 years, and although I adore them, with the renovation and new direction our home is taking, it is time for a change,” said Demi Moore. “I am excited for a new owner to be able to share in the joy these paintings have brought us.”
Over the past two decades, Eli Wilner & Company, has been influential in helping achieve some of the record sales prices at both Christie’s and Sotheby’s Auction Houses. Every frame is handcrafted to not only reflect the time in which the painting was created, but also to best reflect the framing choices known to be made by the artists themselves.
