When Eliot joined, there was no doubt in my mind that the company would quickly grow to a multi-million dollar venture. As a disciple of Peter Drucker, I live by his credo: ‘leadership is defined by results and not attributes.’ We started out with that philosophy and it is still very much alive today.
Woodbridge, NJ (Vocus) October 18, 2010
October marks the 10-year anniversary of Miro Consulting, Inc. In 10 short years, Miro Consulting has gone from two partners with a dream to becoming one of the foremost experts in Oracle and Microsoft licensing – from software asset management to contract negotiations. The company has experienced growth in all aspects of its business services, staff and revenue, and has been repeatedly recognized for its efforts by organizations such as Inc. Magazine, Ernst and Young and NJBiz.
In 2000, Miro Consulting began as an Oracle staff augmentation company with CEO and founder Scott D. Rosenberg. Shortly thereafter, Eliot Arlo Colon (Miro’s current president) joined and started what is now the core offering – Miro’s Oracle licensing practice, which quickly grew to become the software asset management (SAM) practice. In 2006, the Microsoft SAM practice was launched. Today, the SAM practice remains the core focus for the company. Most recently, Miro’s Oracle Database Security Practice was formed.
“Our core software licensing service is successful because of the depth and breadth of Oracle and Microsoft knowledge,” said Mr. Colon. “Our analysts focus solely on Oracle and Microsoft as opposed to a scattered approach of offering services for a half-dozen or more software vendors. Even with our expansion to other types of services – such as the newly-launched technical database security practice – we will not deviate from our emphasis on Oracle and Microsoft. I believe this is the reason for our phenomenal success over the years.”
Miro has had consistently high year over year revenue growth, with as much as a 166% increase from 2006 to 2007. Despite the economic conditions this past year, the company has increased staff by 40% and now has more than 25 employees in its Woodbridge office, a larger office space that employees moved into last year in preparation for the firm’s expansion.
“When the company first started, there were virtually no other companies out there offering our type of software licensing services. We were one of the pioneers,” said Mr. Rosenberg, CEO and founder, Miro Consulting. “When Eliot joined, there was no doubt in my mind that the company would quickly grow to a multi-million dollar venture. As a disciple of Peter Drucker, I live by his credo: ‘leadership is defined by results and not attributes.’ We started out with that philosophy and it is still very much alive today.”
Aside from revenue growth, Miro believes in contributing both time and monetary donations to support select charitable activities. Over the past several years, the company has co-sponsored The Alliance Foundation's Annual Golf Outing, in support of children displaced by national disasters including 9/11. Miro’s senior executives and staff have also contributed to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Alzheimer’s Association and The MS Foundation, and participated in the MS Foundation Bike Ride along the NJ shore.
