The Glasgow signage specialist was contacted to create signage to support, promote and increase business in The Glasgow Science Centre gift shop during their ‘Wallace and Gromit’ themed season. They particularly wanted to create a new frontage for the shop, but needed it to be interchangeable for future promotions. The project included shop frontage panels, a barrier system that consisted of eight banners and a number of colourful signs positioned in and around the shop made from a variety of materials including floor graphics, suspended PVC signs, feature wall banners and PVC signs fixed to gondola’s with support rods.

Split into four main award categories – Interior, Exterior, Vehicle and Project – the awards were independently judged by British Sign & Graphics Association (BSGA) director David Catanach and Sign Directions’ editor Val Hirst. “The project really caught my eye. It’s a lot of fun and included a good identification of space at the science centre,” commented David. “The quality of work made it an ideal contender for both the interior and project awards coming third in both categories.”

Based on Hillington Park, Signs Express (Glasgow) has been part of the Signs Express network since 1995. Managing Director Graham Casey commented on the award announcement: “We were delighted to receive recognition for the work we have completed for The Glasgow Science Centre. It’s an excellent achievement for everyone involved with the project.”

The winner of the Best Project award was Signs Express (Aberdeen) for its work for Trinity Shopping Centre. Second place was given to Signs Express (Exeter) for its work with Exeter City Football Club. Other category award winners included Signs Express (Reading) for best Interior Sign, Signs Express (Falkirk) for the best Vehicle Graphics award and Signs Express (Grantham) for the winning Exterior Sign award.
