The Law Firm of Dussault and Zatir have settled a workers compensation claim for $50,000.00. Dussault and Zatir helped a client who was injured at work after tripping over an object on the floor. At the time of the accident, the client was employed as a certified nursing assistant. The client sustained a knee injury which ultimately required two (2) surgical interventions. After surgery, the client sought physical therapy and unfortunately due to the client’s age and injury, did not obtain a full recovery. Upon reaching an end-result of treatment, the client was released to return to work in a light duty capacity. However, the client did not wish to return to the work-force.
Initially, the workers’ compensation carrier had denied surgery. However, Dussault and Zatir was able to get the surgery approved through litigation and eventually resolve this case. After intense negotiations, the workers’ compensation carrier ultimately agreed to a lump-sum settlement in the amount of $50,000.00, which was approved by the Department of Industrial Accident. It was in the best interest of the client to resolve this case as the client was receiving social security benefits and was able to reinforce that income with the proceeds from the lump-sum settlement.
