Employment should be based on skill level, willingness to learn and the ability to work hard

Long Island distributor Motivators, Inc. was recognized at the Long Island Working Partnership’s 25th Annual Employer Recognition Awards, which were held this past Friday at Bethpage State Park’s Carlyle on the Green. The awards highlight Long Island businesses that seek to embrace work place diversity by employing workers with disabilities. Currently, Motivators employs two deaf employees that work in the company’s order processing department.
Earlier this year, Motivators teamed with New York State’s Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities (VESID) to offer employment opportunities to disabled individuals. After further research, the company partnered with Mill Neck Services for Deaf Adults to begin offering employment opportunities to deaf individuals in the area.
Motivators CEO Ken Laffer firmly believes in equal opportunity employment for individuals across the board and is extremely pleased with the successful partnership with The Mill Neck School for the Deaf. “Employment should be based on skill level, willingness to learn and the ability to work hard,” he said. “We believe everyone has something positive to contribute, and surrounding ourselves with a staff of diverse backgrounds is how we are able to continue to progress as a company.”
