The Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens located in Stamford, Connecticut will once again be offering courses in the care and maintenance of trees. The courses are offered in English and for Spanish speaking students and will prepare them for the Connecticut Arborist Licensing Examination given by the Department of Environmental Protection. Students who attend class, read the assigned materials and work with the instructors can expect to do well on the Connecticut Arborist Exam.
Arboriculture instructors are regarded professionals in their fields, hailing from NYBG, UConn, The CT Agriculture Experiment Station, and the Bartlett Tree Experts.
Classes begin in January 2011 and are held in the evenings at the Bartlett Arboretum Visitor Center unless otherwise noted. Any class canceled due to inclement weather will be re-scheduled. The written exam is administered at the Bartlett Arboretum and the practical exam will be held at the CT Agriculture Experiment Station.
The course fee is $500 and textbooks are an additional $55. Space is limited as this is the only location in Fairfield County that it is offered. To register send a deposit of $250 or full payment of $555 to: Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens 151 Brookdale Road Stamford, CT 06903. The remaining balance is due on or before the first day of class. Class manuals will be distributed the first night.
