This week, as fans across the world venture into their local comic shops for their weekly superhero fix, they will discover that one of the greatest comic book talents of all time, Stan Lee is back!

Anyone who keeps up with entertainment news will tell you that Stan Lee is a busy man. From cameos in the latest superhero movies based on his creations, like Iron Man 2 and a much-lauded appearance on The Big Bang Theory, to multiple ventures across the media landscape, Stan Lee is an unstoppable creative force. But for most of the last decade he has been noticeably absent in the print medium he helped pioneer: comic books.

The debut of Stan Lee's Soldier Zero #1 this Wednesday in comic shops across the globe looks to change that. During a press conference at Comic-Con this past summer, Stan Lee and his company POW! Entertainment in conjunction with rising comic book publisher BOOM! Studios revealed the characters, series and creative teams for three new superhero titles they are publishing this fall.  All three titles feature classic Stan Lee storytelling brought to the contemporary times as Stan Lee partners with some of the best writing talent in the business.

Teaming up with BBC TV's Doctor Who scribe, Paul Cornell, Soldier Zero is the first of these three titles and is hitting stores today.  The series features a wheelchair-bound astronomy teacher who finds himself in a freak accident that bonds him with an alien weapon of war.

The second title, The Traveler, has Lee teaming with Mark Waid, known for authoring one of the bestselling graphic novels of all time KINGDOM COME, this coming November. The Traveler stars a mysterious new superhero with time-traveling powers battling the Split-Second Men, super-powered assassins from the future.

The third hero debuting in December is Starborn, which sees Stan partnering with New York Times bestselling author Chris Roberson.  Starborn is a regular guy who discovers he's the heir to an intergalactic empire, putting him the center of a war between five alien races.

Playing up Stan Lee's absence from the comic book racket, this past spring POW! Entertainment and BOOM! Studios launched a viral  marketing campaign announcing "Stan's Back," running  "Stan's Back" banner ads that linked back to http://www.stansback.com, which was a site that only had the "Stan's Back" logo and nothing else. Utilizing Stan Lee's iconic signature, the viral marketing campaign lead to a week's worth of frenzied speculation, with comic fans all over the internet trying to figure out what could the "Stan's Back" teaser campaign meant with the campaign garnering over 4 million views on the 'net.
