Moving to a totally new city is difficult. Our goal is to make it as easy and as interesting as possible.

In the wake of grueling research and listening to a whole lot of music, PadMapper has officially announced its roundup of the Best Music Cities in America. The website, which helps users find apartments for rent based on location, scrutinized cities across the country for their musical histories, influences on the industry, and today's burgeoning scenes to narrow down the nation's top three musical locales. PadMapper's final deliberation: New York City, Seattle, and San Francisco.
PadMapper tackled the difficult - not to mention subjective - task of declaring the nation's musical powerhouses to give users a brief summary of the best scenes and help those with perfect pitch from moving to totally tone-deaf towns. "When you are choosing a new place to live, it's usually either because of a job or because you are fascinated with what that place has to offer," explains Eric DeMenthon, Founder and President of PadMapper, Inc. "This project focuses on the latter. It was designed to help music junkies decide on new places to live."
The article supports its final selection - Seattle, New York City, and San Francisco - with an examination of each city's musical past, the variety of music each city has bred, and predictions of what these harmonizing havens will produce in the future. Sound clips and videos of each of the region's musical paragons flesh out the argument. "San Francisco will come as a surprise to some people, especially because it beat out frontrunners like Austin, Texas and Nashville, Tennessee," says DeMenthon. "But it shouldn't. The Bay Area was home to the musical revolution in the 60s and is currently thriving."
PadMapper remains true to its goals of helping users find the perfect home by naming the neighborhoods that best embody the musical spirit their cities are known for, like Capitol Hill in Seattle and Williamsburg, Brooklyn in New York City. "Moving to a totally new city is difficult. Our goal is to make it as easy and as interesting as possible," says DeMenthon.
