Life is good, my friends. Life is good. Since I was first motivated by the remarkable weight loss progress of my friend and co-worker Nate Newton, and mustered the courage to set up my own free consultation with Dr. Kim, my life has done a complete 180.
Colleyville, TX (Vocus) October 21, 2010
Dr. David Kim has been performing bariatric surgery in Fort Worth and Dallas since 2002. He recently teamed up with three-time Super Bowl Champion and former Dallas Cowboys star Nate Newton to demonstrate the safety and effectiveness of the innovative weight loss surgery known as vertical sleeve gastrectomy (VSG), which combines many of the advantages of gastric bypass and the LAP-BAND® system. Following the success of Nate Newton—which was documented on Dr. Kim’s website—Big Ben Rogers, a fellow ESPN commentator, has decided to have the VSG procedure performed to begin his own weight loss journey.
Before his weight loss surgery in Dallas, Big Ben Rogers weighed 346 pounds. However, as he approaches 60 pounds of total weight loss following the vertical sleeve gastrectomy performed by Dr. Kim on August 16, 2010, Big Ben continues to see results. Once a week he records his experiences with the VSG procedure and provides updates on his weight loss through Dr. Kim’s website. Despite the success demonstrated by the partnership of Nate Newton and Dr. Kim, Big Ben says he was still apprehensive about the procedure. “I was still full of questions. Full of doubt. Full of guilt. Embarrassed that I let my health get so far out of control that weight loss surgery was even a consideration.”
Big Ben says his whole weight loss journey changed during the initial consultation with Dr. Kim, in which they discussed all the options for his weight loss procedure, including gastric bypass, VSG, and the LAP-BAND® system in Dallas. Big Ben says he gave himself every reason to leave the office and quit the journey before it even began. “That’s when something extremely significant in my journey happened. I immediately connected with Dr. Kim. I felt remarkably comfortable with him in a very short duration.” After weeks of research and emotional preparation, Big Ben says he decided to have the VSG procedure and open the next chapter of his life.
Now five weeks into the weight loss process and nearly 60 pounds lighter, Big Ben says he couldn’t be happier with his decision. “Life is good, my friends. Life is good. Since I was first motivated by the remarkable weight loss progress of my friend and co-worker Nate Newton, and mustered the courage to set up my own free consultation with Dr. Kim, my life has done a complete 180.”
