Los Gatos, CA (PRWEB) October 20, 2010
Society Dog®, a social club for dogs and their people, today announced its 9th annual Howling Halloween® event, Saturday, October 23rd, 2010 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm in downtown Los Gatos, CA. Howling Halloween is a night to remember as hundreds of canines will invade the "town of cats," and be welcomed by over 30 retail establishments, where treats will abound. Ghost judges will “float” through the crowd in search of the best dog costumes and finalists will be judged at the 7pm Costume Contest located at US Bank, 127 N. Santa Cruz Ave.
Early online registration is $15 at http://www.societydog.com. Registration allows you to participate in the event and receive a doggie treat bag to gather treats and a raffle ticket. Raffle and costume contest winners will be awarded with prizes from local pet stores, restaurants, hotels, spas, wineries and retail shops such as Pottery Barn.
Event check-in starts at 4pm at US Bank and Borders in Los Gatos. A portion of the registration proceeds will benefit the Morris Animal Foundation's Canine Cancer Campaign. One well-behaved dog per person is permitted. Children under 14 must be accompanied by a parent. Dogs must be on 4-6 ft non-retractable leashes.
Los Gatos, already recognized as a dog-friendly town, with almost three-fourths of its residences owning dogs, and doggie water bowls at doorsteps of most retail stores, will showcase its most spectacular display of dog-friendliness by welcoming hundreds to the town to show off their doggie costumes and fill up doggie treat bags. Following the event, participants may want to hang out in town and enjoy one of the many dog-friendly restaurants such as Borders Cafe, California Cafe, Los Gatos Cafe, Main Street Burgers, Toll House Hotel's Three Degrees Restaurant, Tommy's of Los Gatos, Viva, Willow Street Pizza.
“We look forward to this event every year and it's such a great feeling that this is our 9th year being able to provide an exciting, fun dog-friendly event within the town of Los Gatos," said Terri Festa, President of Society Dog. "We also love that we will be able to make another donation to the Morris Animal Foundation's Canine Cancer Campaign, as well as promote our local businesses."
On Sunday, October 10th Society Dog participated in the Morris Animal Foundation's K9 Cancer Walk and their team not only raised over $6,000 for canine cancer research but also received the Top Dog Spirit Award.
