As more people seek greater knowledge about other nations, GlobeTrot makes this information easily accessible
Washington (Vocus) October 21, 2010
KiwiTech, a leading mobile technology firm, announced today the release of GlobeTrot, the world’s first iPad app that features a 3D globe and interactive information about countries of the world.
Key Features of GlobeTrot (check out the video):
- The national flag, country emblem and national anthem
- Maps showing the major cities
- Key facts about each country
- A cube that can be rotated to show photos of the country
- Rotating images of the coins and banknotes
“GlobeTrot is the perfect way to explore the world right from your iPad,” said Rakesh Gupta, KiwiTech’s CEO. “Users can view the globe in satellite, terrestrial and geopolitical modes depending on their preference. They can easily access key facts about 194 countries, see a map with the major cities, and view a photo cube. They can view the flag, which flutters upon touch, and listen to the music of the national anthem.”
GlobeTrot allows people to rotate a globe in several ways. A person can watch the globe in auto-rotate mode or use their finger to spin the globe. Another option features an accelerometer to rotate the globe by tilting the iPad in any direction. The app also allows users to add clouds to the globe for a more realistic look.
Gupta said having a wealth of content about each country makes the GlobeTrot a great way for children, teens and adults to learn more about their world. The release of GlobeTrot is especially timely since October 24 is United Nations Day, and marks the organization’s 65th anniversary. “As more people seek greater knowledge about other nations, GlobeTrot makes this information easily accessible,” Gupta said.
