Denver, CO (PRWEB) October 21, 2010
Gregory J. Anton, CPA, has been elected Vice Chairman of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. His term is one year and he is slated to become the Chairman in October 2011, also for a one-year term. This volunteer position for the national organization of CPAs continues a career of dedication to clients, the community, and the accounting profession.
Anton is a founding partner in the firm of Anton Collins Mitchell LLP (ACM), ranked the 4th largest Colorado-owned accounting firm. Anton has served the AICPA in many capacities. He was a member of the Board of Directors and the governing Council for seven years. He chaired the Finance Committee in 2008-2009 and the Board Task Force on FASAB Rule 203 Review and has served on the Audit, Compensation and Investments Committees, as well as the Member Advisory Panel and the Expert Panels Oversight Group.
The AICPA is the national, professional organization for Certified Public Accountants with approximately 360,000 members. Its mission is to provide members with the resources, information, and leadership that enable them to provide valuable services in the highest professional manner to benefit the public as well as employers and clients. In fulfilling its mission, the AICPA works with state CPA organizations and gives priority to those areas where public reliance on CPA skills is most significant. (http://www.aicpa.org)
A dedicated and passionate volunteer, Anton believes involvement in professional and community organizations provides opportunities to learn, share ideas, experience personal growth, and to enrich the lives of others. This belief is also demonstrated through his commitment to the clients ACM serves – and to the firm itself. His second term on the AICPA Board continues his commitment to integrating volunteer service into his life, just as he has with his many business and personal pursuits. “I look forward to working with the AICPA addressing the important issues facing the profession, and continuing to serve our clients in the ACM tradition. You will still find me riding my mountain bike, skiing, boating, and fishing with my family and friends, just as I do now. The big difference will be in the number of stories I’ll have to share!”
Anton’s past professional activities include service on the Board of Directors for the Colorado Society of CPAs (CSCPA), including service as Chair of the Board (2004 – 2005) during the centennial year for the Colorado accounting profession, and service as Co-Chair of the Centennial Scholarship Campaign of the Educational Foundation of the CSCPA which raised over $1 million for accounting scholarships.
