Marlborough, MA (PRWEB) October 22, 2010
Donato J. Tramuto, CEO and Vice Chairman of Physicians Interactive Holdings (PIH), a leading provider of health care information and mobile clinical decision tools to medical professionals, will discuss international applications of the company’s work—and for the health care industry overall—at today’s Center for Connected Health Symposium in Boston.
PIH is a global resource for physicians, nurses and other health professionals, giving them access to all of the medical research, pharmaceutical samples and information, and other clinical decision tools they need to do their jobs effectively and from virtually any location—all through their mobile phones.
The Center for Connected Health is a division of Partners HealthCare, which includes the Brigham and Women's and Massachusetts General Hospitals. Its annual symposium engages the nation’s leading innovators, researchers and thinkers on how technology can provide new, more effective solutions for delivering quality patient care outside of the traditional medical setting.
Tramuto will participate on a panel scheduled for today, October 22, at 2:20 p.m., titled, “Connected Health around the Globe: How and Why Solutions Need to Differ by Geography and by Social, Economic and Cultural Setting.” Tramuto’s remarks will focus on international work that PIH has done in the past, and its vision for continuing to spread the impact its technology has for clinicians beyond the U.S. borders, particularly in developing nations.
The panel will be moderated by Chuck Parker, Msc, Executive Director of Continua Health Alliance. The panel also includes David Aylward, Executive Director of the mHealth Alliance; Dr. Peter Donnelly, Ph.D., Chief Executive of BioBusiness Northern Ireland; and Dr. George Margelis, MBBS, M.Optom, GCEBus, Industry Development Manager, Intel Australia Digital Health Group.
“Boston’s vibrant health care community makes it the perfect gathering place for people who are envisioning how technology applications for clinicians can dramatically improve health care outcomes, not only here in the U.S., but around the world,” Tramuto said. “Today we are rethinking the status quo and how we can expand into poverty-stricken, health care-deprived parts of the globe in a thoughtful, coherent way that reflects cultural, infrastructure and financial realities. I’m pleased to be able to offer insights from the PIH experience as part of this important discussion.”
