About the Author
Tom Candela is a native of New York City, raised on Long Island. At the age of fourteen, his family moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is a Vietnam veteran, serving from 1967 to1968 and during the Tet Offensive. After being relieved of active duty from the U.S. Army, he went on to pursue a career in radio broadcasting in South Hill, Virginia. Upon returning to Philadelphia, he joined the Philadelphia Police Department, where he served seventeen and a half years patrolling the streets of West and Northeast Philly. Candela retired in 1994 and relocated to Kentucky with his wife and three sons. The author is now pursuing a lifelong dream to become a writer with his first book, Abused.
