For years, he has been bringing inspiration to the World Wide Web through his blog. Now, author Joseph Potocny shares more encouragement as he releases Living with Alzhiemers’: (A Conversation If You Will), his book published through Xlibris, and collects his recollected moments amid an overwhelming disease.
In 2004, Potocny was diagnosed with the early stages of Alzheimer’s. He would later describe it as something that “scared the beegeebees” out of him. A PET Scan in 2007 confirmed all and began his long journey of dealing with life-changing circumstances. Living with Alzhiemers’ presents an anthology of blog posts shared by the author online for a span of four years, beginning in 2006. Through his thoughts, ponderings, observations, and reflections, readers will be taken into the world that is often described as confusing, bewildering, and plain depressing. Peppered with witty quips and uplifting words, this book, however, is aimed to bring happiness, hope, and appreciation of the blessings that are still received despite being in such quandary. It is a collection of feelings, thoughts, encouragement, vents and stories of how patients and the people around them cope with this disease.
“Together we have expressed our fears, hopes, dreams, tears, and personal pain. It has been our hope that others would benefit from our stories and journeys,” shares the author. “We want the reader to experience the frustration, anxiety, loneliness, hopelessness and fears that we who suffer from Alzheimer’s experience on a daily basis in our lives.”
