Bellevue, WA (PRWEB) October 22, 2010
The Bellevue Chamber of Commerce invited Carla Corkern, CEO of Bellevue, WA-based Talyst Inc. to speak at its October Business Lunch. Corkern spoke on how Talyst is changing the way healthcare is administered and practiced, improving patient safety and sustainability.
“Healthcare has become more complex – the population is aging, people have multiple diseases and they are living longer so their disease states are progressing,” Corkern said.
Talyst Inc. is improving patient safety as the leader in hospital, long-term care and correctional facility pharmacy automation technologies. Their products include hardware and software solutions that support bedside barcode scanning initiatives, remote medication dispensing, automated packaging, labeling and storing and more. In addition, Talyst is committed to proactive mitigation of medication waste in all care environments.
“The best way to get rid of waste is to never dispense it,” Corkern said. “Our technology is actually a very ‘green’ solution. And in health reform the biggest savings in Medicare Part D was a new requirement to reduce medication waste – estimated at $6 billion in savings over 10 years and we think that’s a very conservative estimate. Our technology will help pharmacies achieve that.”
