The Gospel Truth Choir (http://www.thegospeltruthchoir.com), a collective of world-class vocalists from Scotland, today announced details of their debut album release. “Deep Fried Gospel” is a collection of instantly recognisable songs, written by Scots and performed by The Gospel Truth Choir in their inimitable tartan gospel style. Featuring stunning vocals from choir soloists, and guest contributions from artists as diverse as Bruce Watson and the Lothian and Borders Police Choir, the album takes an affectionate, and sometimes surprising look at great Scottish songwriting.

“Deep Fried Gospel” is a collection of twelve diverse songs, all written by Scots songwriters and selected by The Gospel Truth Choir to showcase the vocal talents of the choir and their guests. Bruce Watson (of Big Country and The Skids) joins son Jamie and Maeve MacKinnon for a medley of “The Saints are Coming” and “Chance”, and The Lothian and Borders Police Choir/InChorus join for a respectful gospel treatment of “500 Miles”. Horse and Mary Ann Kennedy team up with the choir for a medley of “Hi Horo 's na Horo Eile” and “Ae Fond Kiss”, with other tracks featuring songs that were hits for Deacon Blue, Annie Lennox, Simple Minds, Paolo Nutini, Bronski Beat, Danny Wilson and KT Tunstall (amongst others).

“This was a really fun album to make,” commented choir founder and Director Tracey Braithwaite. “We worked in fabulous studios, our choir and musicians were on great form, and it’s easy to make a great album when you’re starting with songs of this calibre. It's truly been a labour of love.” Fellow choir founder and Performance Coach Chris Judge added “we got a real buzz out of working with the guest artists who contributed their time and talents to what is an entirely self-funded album. We’ve definitely ended up with a diverse showcase of great Scottish talent!”

The Gospel Truth Choir will appear on "Children in Need" on BBC Scotland on 19th November, 2010, and the album will be available online and in stores from the 15th November, 2010.
