A world tragedy finds the main character Edwin Winstead, a young company pilot, seemingly left by himself on earth after a long and dangerous journey from New York City to Fort Worth, Dallas, Texas. However, he finds that there are more humans left alive just as he was, and they try to start a new life.
They struggle with a crumbling infrastructure and set out to rebuild a place for all of them.
E. Ford is a retired commercial pilot with 11,000 hours flight time in the general aviation industry. Having served as chief pilot of a part 61/91 Flight School, he also spent a short time as an airline pilot. Ford lives in Burleson, Texas, with his wife Doris and a spoiled basset hound named Mattie.
