Convirture, maker of software for managing Xen and KVM-based virtualization software, has launched a new Partner Program for OEMs, distributors, solution providers and resellers worldwide.
Craig Bauman, Convirture's VP of sales and business development, is spearheading the new channel program. Before joining Convirture, Bauman was RedHat's vice president for virtualization sales and channel. He joined RedHat when it acquired KVM inventor and virtualization pioneer Qumranet.
Convirture makes ConVirt - enterprise-grade virtualization management software for open source hypervisors - that offers customers a level of functionality that was previously available only to users of proprietary virtualization platforms. This is the company's first partner program, which is intended to expand its sales and software distribution around the world.
"An active partner network brings more choice to end-users, who can now more easily build out their virtual and private cloud infrastructure using Xen and KVM rather than locking-in to a single vendor," said Bauman. "Working with channel partners in the cloud and virtualization ecosystem, we will fill our growing sales pipeline. Convirture is committed to a partner-driven sales model."
Convirture established three levels in its Partner Program:
1st tier - OEM and Distributor
2nd tier - Solution Provider Partner Gold
3rd tier - Authorized Reseller Partner
Partners will receive technical and sales support, product training, evaluation software, market competitive rates and terms. More information is available at http://www.convirture.com/partners_overview.php.
"For the past six months, I have been working with ConVirt 2.0 in a customer's data center and both the customer and I are very impressed with the features and web interface," said Jurgen van der Meijs, an IT consultant with Snow in the Netherlands, which specializes in Unix and Open Source software. (Snow was founded in 1997 and has 150 IT consultants.) "The customer is running Xen on RedHat and has hypervisors running around the world that they were trying to manage via virt-manager and a webpage with static virtual machine information. Now, they have the full dynamic management capabilities of ConVirt for their Xen machines as well as newly installed KVM systems."
Convirture software offerings
The open source version of ConVirt has been available for more than three years and is broadly deployed and well-tested in real-world data centers - having been downloaded more than 30,000 times. In fact, ConVirt1.x is included in most major Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, Open SUSE, Debian and others.
ConVirt 2.0 Enterprise extends ConVirt Open Source with the advanced automation and scalability features necessary for running large-scale or mission-critical virtualized environments. By delivering high availability, backup and recovery, storage and network automation, and enterprise-grade security, ConVirt 2.0 Enterprise enables IT managers to meet and exceed service levels while using infrastructure in the most efficient way. ConVirt 2.0 Enterprise is for enterprises ready to move beyond virtualized infrastructure management towards a hosted or private cloud model. The extensive cloud management feature set includes multi-tenant security, delegated control, scheduled provisioning, resource limiting, and more.
ConVirt 2.0 Enterprise Starter Edition is a fully-functional version of ConVirt 2.0 Enterprise. Starter Edition is specifically designed for small and medium businesses, or larger enterprises that need a test bed for pre-production deployments before rolling-out ConVirt 2.0 Enterprise to the entire data center.
Convirture was founded in 2006 to help organizations effectively manage open source virtualization platforms. More information is available at http://www.convirture.com.
