Now we have the opportunity to utilize a patient's own tissues to augment other areas that the patient might want to enhance.
Laguna Beach, CA (Vocus) October 24, 2010
Dr. Dan Mills, a board-certified Orange County plastic surgeon, recently performed an innovative new procedure that’s the first of its kind in Laguna Beach and the surrounding region. Utilizing the latest innovation in fat grafting from Cytori Therapeutics, Inc., a global provider of high-quality health care technologies - including regenerative medicine that can be used in cosmetic and reconstructive procedures - Dr. Mills performed the PureGraft™ fat grafting system on a mother of twins that wanted to enhance her figure with a mommy makeover. The PureGraft™ System was approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration earlier this year.
Dr. Mills says his patient expressed the desire to avoid using materials foreign to her body when augmenting her figure, and adds that the innovative fat grafting technology allowed him to create natural-looking results in less time than is typically required for this combination of procedures at his Orange County plastic surgery practice. Dr. Mills says the Cytori PureGraft™ System is a more efficient way to perform fat augmentation because it uses dialysis to separate contaminants and concentrate the pure fat, a process which used to take up to twice as long.
Dr. Mills performed a combination of cosmetic procedures for this patient’s mommy makeover, including liposuction, a butt lift, and a mini tummy tuck in Orange County. He adds that these procedures already require a significant amount of time before adding the additional component of harvesting a patient’s own fat to be used in the augmentation. However, Dr. Mills says with the Cytori PureGraft™ System, the double membrane dialysis prepares the fat as it is collected, which saves a great deal of time.
When he performed mommy makeovers that included liposuction in Orange County in the past, Dr. Mills says the patient’s fat would simply be discarded. Yet in the case of this particular patient, he says he was able to cut down on the length of the surgery, as well as the need for synthetic fat grafts when performing the butt lift component of the patient’s mommy makeover procedure. “Now we have the opportunity to utilize a patient’s own tissues to augment other areas that the patient might want to enhance.”
