Incline Village, Nevada (PRWEB) October 26, 2010
GreenArrays today disclosed that it has released into prototype production its very first product, a highly compact and energy-efficient multicomputer chip that integrates 144 computers operating independently and asynchronously. Designated the GA144 Multicomputer Array, the initial portfolio entry is scheduled to be available in evaluation quantities during the second quarter of 2011.
The GA144 deploys software-defined I/O to give customers the flexibility to reprogram the device, and thereby reduce manufacturing costs. Executing 96 billion operations/second, the versatile chip operates at very low power (less than 10 picojoules per operation) and is extremely fast (650 MIPS per on-chip computer). Moreover, it can operate in parallel with other GA144 chips to serve applications requiring more expansive arrays. The compact GA144 chip measures 2.5mm x 2.5mm.
According to GreenArrays, the GA144 delivers an unprecedented combination of processing speed and energy efficiency for all types of embedded applications, including those found in demanding automotive, military and aerospace environments.
Evaluation Kit Availability
Evaluation kits and small quantities of GA144 chips can be ordered in advance on the company’s website (http://www.greenarraychips.com). The GA144 is offered with arrayForth™, an advanced multicomputer integrated development environment (IDE) that includes interactive programming, testing and debugging facilities. This software, which may be downloaded from the company’s website at no charge, includes simulators for software development.
