Prolumina, a national litigation consulting firm headquartered in Seattle, WA, was part of the trial team that helped obtain a $30M jury award for the victim of an automobile accident in the Seattle area. According to the Hu v WSDOT case, Koti Hu, 30, was injured when his vehicle was struck by a pickup truck while waiting on an onramp to Interstae 405. Hu sued the owner of the truck, as well as the Washington State Department of Transportation. The jury found that the driver of the truck was 60% responsible and faulted WSDOT 40% for poor design of the ramp where the accident occurred.
In addition to creating the graphics used by Mr. Hu’s team during the Hu v WSDOT (No. 08-2-18251-7 SEA, King County Superior Court) trial, Prolumina provided jury selection consulting services. Using Prolumina’s proprietary selection methodology and scoring system, Prolumina was able to help Mr. Hu’s trial team seat a jury that provided a provided a favorable verdict for Mr. Hu.
Craig Smith, Prolumina’s Senior Strategy Consultant assigned to the case, said: “The trial team’s receptiveness to strategic and tactical suggestions played a large role in making sure that the case presentation achieved the desired impact on jurors, and because jury selection was critical in this case, Prolumina’s unique voir dire strategy and jury selection model was very helpful in identifying jury pool members that were of potentially high-risk to Plaintiff’s case.”
