Give2Asia, a US-based public charity working to create a transformative philanthropy for Asia, today announces a new partnership with Caring and Living as Neighbors (CLAN). Based in Australia, CLAN helps children in Vietnam, Indonesia, Pakistan and the Philippines living with chronic conditions by helping to create new opportunities for them to lead fulfilling lives.

“Health services for children are not always available, especially for those who need regular care,” said Ray Klinke, Give2Asia’s Interim CEO. “CLAN is able to breach cultural barriers, expand local knowledge of chronic health issues, and deliver services in multiple Asian countries. I am thrilled that Give2Asia is helping to support their work.”

CLAN works with children diagnosed with chronic diseases and their healthcare providers. The organization’s programs include healthcare provider trainings, family/patient educational conferences, donations of essential medications, and raising public awareness of the plight of children with chronic conditions in resource-poor countries.

With a goal of maximizing the quality of life for all children with chronic conditions, the organization focuses on supporting five key areas of need:

  •     access to affordable medication,
  •     educational opportunities,
  •     medical management optimization,
  •     providing support group networks, and
  •     alleviating poverty by reducing family financial burdens

U.S. donors can make tax-deductible donations online to Give2Asia in support of CLAN at http://www.give2asia.org/clan, or by sending donations to Give2Asia by check, wire, or securities transfer.

About CLAN

Founded in 2004, CLAN, an Australian NGO, began its work in Vietnam. Early successes in Vietnam led to further work with children in the Philippines, Indonesia and Pakistan. CLAN helps children with endocrine disorders such as diabetes and congenital adrenal hyperplasia, developmental disorders such as autism and Down’s syndrome, as well as other chronic conditions. CLAN identifies groups of children with the same chronic conditions as belonging to the same community and works through a strategic framework. CLAN partners with local organizations and individuals as well as local health ministers and government officials to achieve long term sustainable solutions. Their website can be found at http://www.clanchildhealth.org.
