WinCan 3D™ Turns Pipeline Network Data Into Virtual Reality

Share Article

WinCan 3D™ builds a virtual model of pipeline infrastructure automatically from inspection data, allowing easy visualization and management of underground assets.

WinCan™ isn’t just about collecting pipe data, it’s about distilling intelligence that can be used immediately for maintenance and planning purposes. WinCan 3D™ presents pipeline data in a format that’s easy to comprehend and ready for action.

With the new WinCan 3D™ module, WinCan™ pipe inspection and asset management software can build a three-dimensional model of your pipeline network based on inspection records. This model—which can be rotated, zoomed, and even overlaid on GIS maps and CAD drawings—helps you visualize your pipe network, verify the accuracy of other records, and plan sub-surface work such as excavation and directional drilling.

“WinCan™ isn’t just about collecting pipe data, it’s about distilling intelligence that can be used immediately for maintenance and planning purposes,” says Mike Russin, Account Manager for Pipeline Analytics™, WinCan’s™ support and distribution company in the Americas. “WinCan 3D™ presents pipeline data in a format that’s easy to comprehend and ready for action.”

WinCan 3D™ is fully integrated with the core WinCan™ software. An operator can mouse over a pipe section on the 3D view to get complete inspection data, or establish bidirectional links with data in WinCan Map™ (or any third-party GIS system). WinCan 3D™ is even integrated into WinCan’s™ freeware viewer, so 3D models can be shared with anyone.

WinCan 3D™ is also easy to use. An operator links section records corresponding to their real-world configuration, and then calculates branch angles using WinCan PhotoAssist’s™ geometry-extraction capabilities. The software automatically generates the 3D model, and then allows fine tuning when maps and blueprints are overlaid.

“WinCan 3D™ is the latest in a long history of innovation that has made WinCan™ the most trusted pipe inspection and asset management software worldwide,” says Manfred Stoehr, General Manager for Pipeline Analytics™ and International Marketing Manager for WinCan™.

WinCan 3D™ is currently available as a module for WinCan v8™. Contact Mike Russin at Pipeline Analytics™ (877-626-8386, mrussing(at)pipelineanalytics(dot)com) for more information or a demonstration.

ABOUT WINCAN. WinCan™ was the original pipe inspection and asset management software when it entered the market 15 years ago. Today, it’s the most trusted pipeline software worldwide, thanks to continuous innovation and exceptional support. WinCan™ transforms raw inspection data into the intelligence municipalities and contractors need to make critical maintenance decisions. The software’s measurement tools help quantify defects, and sophisticated search capabilities filter observations by any combination of criteria. Its report generator automatically summarizes inspection findings using a standard or user-defined template. Native support for GIS mapping, side-scanning and 3D are among WinCan’s™ most innovative features.

ABOUT PIPELINE ANALYTICS. WinCan™ pipe inspection and asset management software is supported and distributed in the Americas exclusively by Pipeline Analytics. As the only WinCan™-certified software consultancy, Pipeline Analytics™ is uniquely positioned to deliver support, training, customization and integration with all common municipal databases and mapping software programs.
