Solage Calistoga’s Signature Restaurant Recognized For Second Consecutive Year In Michelin’s 2011 Bay Area Guide

Solbar, the signature restaurant at Napa Valley’s Solage Calistoga resort, has been honored with a Michelin star for the second year in a row in the new Michelin Guide San Francisco, Bay Area & Wine Country 2011, released today. Internationally recognized as the preeminent culinary authority, Michelin named Solbar among an elite group of just 44 Bay Area restaurants as the best of the best. To evaluate restaurants included in the influential guide, highly trained Michelin inspectors anonymously visit each establishment, provide objective assessments and judge on five criteria: the quality of products used, the mastering of flavors and cooking, the “personality” of the cuisine, and the value and the consistency of dishes prepared.

The 125-seat Solbar offers a fresh interpretation of wine country cuisine in a decidedly relaxed environment, with special emphasis on the restaurant’s indoor-outdoor setting. Leading Solbar’s culinary team is Executive Chef Brandon Sharp, whose pedigree includes tenures at Michelin star-rated Gary Danko in San Francisco, Restaurant August in New Orleans and the world-renowned French Laundry in Napa Valley.

Fully in command at Napa Valley’s Michelin star-rated Solbar, Sharp has pulled off what few resort chefs can in making a hotel dining room a true destination restaurant.
