ShowClix to debut its new ticket scanner, which runs on the Apple iOS platform, at the conference.

ShowClix (showclix.com) – a full-service, primary ticketing company that provides venues, promoters and event organizers around the world with web-based solutions to manage every aspect of their ticketing operations – has signed on as the presenting sponsor of the 7th Annual Billboard Touring Conference & Awards. The company will debut its new ticket scanner, which runs on the Apple iOS platform, at the conference.

Guided by Billboard's Ray Waddell, the two-day event, which takes place November 3rd and 4th in New York City, includes informative panel roundtable discussions on touring and live entertainment. ShowClix' President Lynsie Camuso will be providing her insight on the ticketing industry by taking part in the “Ticketing: Managing the Keys to the Kingdom”' discussion as a panelist. ShowClix' new Apple iOS ticket scanning application is the latest addition to the company's mobile ticket scanning suite, Axess, which was originally launched on the Google Android platform in January 2010. The new application transforms Apple devices running iOS 4.0 or higher, including the iPod, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, into ticket scanners that can quickly scan and authenticate 1D and 2D (QR) barcodes on print-at-home, mobile and thermal tickets. The application offers two scanning modes: Laser and Camera.

Laser Mode combines Apple's iPod with Infinite Peripherals' Linea Pro hardware – which is used by Apple to manage their paperless, in-store checkout process – to create a laser barcode ticket scanner. In addition to verifying barcodes using the laser scanner, ShowClix clients can also verify and check-in tickets by swiping the credit card used to make the purchase. The application's Camera Mode operates on any Apple device that includes an autofocus camera, including the iPod, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, giving any ShowClix client who owns one of these devices the ability to scan and verify tickets.
