"State of the Healthcare Industry” Outlined by Senior Greenway EMR Executives, Speaker Newt Gingrich and Dr. Andrew von Eschenbach

There was a lot of discussion about Greenway's growth, but our message was that what we hold sacred is our service, which is constantly reflected in our annual KLAS awards. - Eric Grunden, Greenway VP Client Services

Greenway Medical Technologies, Inc., a leading EMR software solution provider, welcomed more than 1,300 customers, partners and industry leaders to the company's annual PrimeLeader conference held last week in downtown Atlanta. The physicians and practice administrators in attendance were treated to a broad array of speakers, technology demonstration sessions and hands-on workshops designed to increase their return on investment in groundbreaking electronic medical record (EMR) technology and services from Greenway®.

Greenway EMR President and CEO Tee Green opened the sold-out conference with a wide-ranging overview of the changing landscape in healthcare innovation, including the impact of accountable- and outcomes-based care, EHR meaningful use incentives and the technology-enabled benefits of comprehensive EHR adoption.

"The state of healthcare in the United States is undergoing tremendous change,” said Green, "creating both challenges and opportunities for patients, healthcare providers and technology solutions alike. The close collaboration between care providers and Greenway's technology innovators at this year's PrimeLeader conference is a testimony to the type of cooperative relationships needed for the true benefits of this transformation to be fully realized by patients, providers and every related interest in the healthcare industry if we are to truly improve population health.”

Attendees at this year's PrimeLeader conference also received a welcome message from Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the House and founder of the Washington, D.C.-based Center for Health Transformation. Speaking directly to Greenway customers, Gingrich noted, "I think you're meeting at a very unique time in American history, and it's important that you are moving in the right direction for the best possible medical care, and to make sure it's an affordable, sustainable system. I think that is, frankly, where Greenway's efforts really matter. Because of the work that Tee and others have led with innovation, new ideas, new approaches and the development of PrimeSuite® as an EMR software solution that really is key to the future.

"Think about everything you've heard coming out of Washington in terms of what people are looking for: more accurate data, more transparency, a greater ability to prove that what we're doing adds value, real concern about how payments are going to be made,” Gingrich continued. "All of these things in the long run are going to lead to greater and greater reliance on electronic medical records, and if you have a personalized system that really works like PrimeSuite does, I think you're in a position to be ahead of the curve.”

As this year's keynote speaker, Dr. Andrew von Eschenbach, who served as FDA commissioner from 2006 to 2009 and director of the National Cancer Institute from 2002 to 2005, addressed the convergence of technology and knowledge as a transformational opportunity for healthcare professionals. "The very nature of data is radically changing,” said von Eschenbach. "To reconcile knowledge and really apply it requires new tools found, for example, in PrimeSuite.” He noted that advancements in genetic and cellular research, bio-informatics and functional imaging have advanced the compilation of data and its need for analysis and exchange, "to put the clinician back into the role of identifying the body of knowledge for the 21st century. PrimeSuite provides the tools to achieve the transformation of care, not to just eliminate paper and increase efficiency. Clinical infrastructures can be managed in an entirely new way through electronic health record tools, and move across large populations. You are the deliverers of that promise.”

Greenway customers attended six EHR meaningful use seminars offered among 230 educational and best practice workshop sessions, and took advantage of networking and solution enhancement strategies to maximize their utilization of Greenway's integrated EHR, practice management and interoperability solution PrimeSuite. Under the banner of "Ensuring Success,” PrimeLeader 2010 also welcomed 30 functionality, strategy and innovation partners. As an indication that adoption of Greenway's PrimeSuite EMR software solution continues to grow at a record pace, more than 40 percent of this year's attendees were participating in PrimeLeader for the first time.

Greenway Vice President of Client Services Eric Grunden led attendees through the four-day schedule of events. "There was a lot of discussion about Greenway's growth, but our message was that what we hold sacred is our service, which is constantly reflected in our annual KLAS awards and mid-year scoring. We're only successful when our customers are successful, and we saw and heard a lot of evidence of that again this year.”
