The decrease of 7 points from Q1 2010 to Q2 2010, returning the PMI to Q409 levels, indicates that the market recovery is very gradual and modest in nature. We still remain cautiously optimistic for a slight upward trend in 2010.
Portland, Oregon (PRWEB) October 28, 2010 –
Today Global Technology Transfer Group, Inc. (GTT Group), the world leader in patent asset analysis and monetization services, releases the Q2 2010 Patent Market Index (PMI), an index tracking patent transaction activity and trends in the patent marketplace.
The Q2 2010 PMI shows a moderate decrease quarter to quarter, dropping slightly from 81 to 74 between Q1 and Q2 of 2010. The PMI continues showing stability from the second half of 2008 to the present, but it still tracks below the highs of 2007.
“The decrease of 7 points from Q1 2010 to Q2 2010, returning the PMI to Q409 levels, indicates that the market recovery is very gradual and modest in nature. We still remain cautiously optimistic for a slight upward trend in 2010 with the PMI reaching the high 70’s”, explained Michael Lubitz, CEO and Chairman of GTT Group.
Included in the report containing the Q2 2010 PMI are a listing of the transactions representing large assignments of over 100 patents occurring during Q2. Also included are the top ten universities’ internal patent activity and a listing of the top ten universities in external commercialization activity.
The PMI was developed using GTT Group proprietary tools to provide realistic market outlooks to GTT Group clients. These market outlooks include information on market activity and trending key statistics for determining current asset value and best use scenarios. These tools and the applied data provide GTT Group with the information to guide clients concerning the appropriate use of patent assets.
