Kathmandu, a leading brand of clothing and equipment for travel and adventure in Australia and New Zealand, has introduced five new items to their 2010-2011 summer travel line that feature drirelease® with FreshGuard® technology.

The items featuring drirelease include the Dolomo Travel Dress, as well as men’s and women’s versions of the Pyrenean and Tyrolean travel tops. “Our goal with these garments was to provide adventurous travelers for whom packing space is a priority with fashionable, highly functional garments that require minimal care,” said Lucy Langman, Apparel Category Marketing Manager for Kathmandu. “Our designers loved that drirelease fabrics dry 4 times faster than cotton, and are odor- and wrinkle-free while maintaining a great hand-feel and natural look, making these garments perfect for our customers,” concluded Ms. Langman.

“A lot of our customers have used drirelease in their athletic apparel for years, given its superior comfort properties,” said Chris Moore, General Manager of Optimer Labs. “What makes Kathmandu’s products particularly exciting for us is that they are using drirelease fabrics to develop garments that take advantage of its exceptional hand and feel, and deliver fashion in addition to function.”

All of the new drirelease garments in Kathmandu’s line are part of the company’s quickDRY range, and all feature the Pack & Go pack-loop, which allows wearers to roll up the garments for convenient, space-saving packing. The garments are available for purchase through Kathmandu’s retail stores in Australia New Zealand, and the United Kingdom, as well as online at http://www.kathmandu.co.nz, http://www.kathmandu.com.au and http://www.kathmandu.co.uk.

About Optimer Brands

Optimer Brands, formerly known as Optimer Performance Fibers, a Sterling Capital Partners company, is based in Wilmington, DE.

Founded in 2001, Optimer Brands conducts textile research, development and marketing and has a scientific staff credited with over 100 patents and developments.

drirelease® is a registered trademark of Optimer Brands. It is a patented, intimate blend of synthetic and natural fibers that combine wicking and quick drying attributes into a single yarn. Instead of spreading the moisture across a fabric’s surface, drirelease actually pushes it to the outside of a garment, releasing water and perspiration faster than any other performance fabric on the market. drirelease includes the added benefit of FreshGuard®, an odor neutralizer embedded in all drirelease fabrics that virtually eliminates odor without using harmful chemicals. All drirelease attributes are inherent to our yarns, meaning they will not wear or wash out. For more information, visit http://www.drirelease.com.

FreshGuard® is a registered trademark of Optimer Brands. It is an odor neutralizer embedded in all drirelease fabrics. It eliminates odors in garments by blocking odor-causing sebaceous body oils from attaching to the fabric – also stopping the attraction of odor-causing bacteria. Not an anti-microbial or anti-bacterial, which attack bacteria that possess positive functions, FreshGuard is environmentally friendly. For more information, visit http://www.drirelease.com.
